With one of the largest cash prize pools in America, the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition encourages Nevada’s college and university to act on their ideas and talents by entering the competition and have a head start in producing tomorrow’s businesses.
In 2004, when Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology launched the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup College Business Plan Competition, it was Nevada’s only business plan competition. Nearly ten years later, Nevada’s college and university students can compete for cash prizes in several other business plan competitions to prepare for the Governor’s Cup. Now, the Nevada Governor’s Cup and the Tri-State are the culminating events for the business plan competitions.
In 2014, a statewide committee of Nevada’s higher education institutions, led by Dr. Dave Croasdell (UNR), Dr. Andrew Hardin (UNLV), Dr. Marie Murgolo-Poore (TMCC), and Kendra Wong (SNC), began hosting the Governor’s Cup. Special thanks to Dave Archer from NCET for his advisory role.
